When I began my healing journey of being more conscious and awake, I O.D’d on material from anyone and everyone. And let me tell you that nothing was resonating on the level that I was searching for, the level that I needed at that time.
It literally took me years to discover why this work just wasn’t sticking, I hadn’t dug down to the core and laid out my foundation.
Imagine trying to redecorate your bedroom in the most beautiful colors that you know will make you happy every day. And rolling the paint right over top of all the cracks, holes, and imperfections in that wall, before doing the patchwork, and repairing it. This is what I mean by laying your foundation.
It would only be a matter of time before the cracks split your paint and the room looks like shit again.
This is the reality of so many people, who are on their path to healing, not realizing the importance of a strong healthy foundation. I see it all the time. The cracks and holes need to be worked on before you trying to decorate.
I’ll let you in on how I build my solid foundation that still supposes my journey today.
You ready for it…
It started with myself.
“Well, Duh Jen!” I know what you’re probably thinking.
But let me tell you I’m not just talking about the fluffy “get to know yourself” crap. I talking about the universal self that we are all connected to.
This is the first in a series of posts I will be making explaining and getting nitty gritty on how to lay your rock solid foundation to support your personal journey.
For me it all started with the four levels of self freedom.
Now I’m not talking about freedom from something physical like a crappy job, a crappy apartment in a less than desirable neighborhood, etc.
I’m talking about the freedom from the limitations that your environment, mind, caregivers, employers, and other have placed on you, which has created your own sense of scarcity and lack.
Now let’s get started with the basic understanding of a strong foundation. Read these levels over, think on them, let them marinate, and embody them. This is the true foundation of knowing you true self and supports your transformation through the stages of consciousness.
Level 1: Self – Discipline
By self-discipline, I’m talking about your power to make choices (the right choices) in our lives. Gain the self-discipline to chose action over reaction. The choice to choose a different path than the one you always find yourself on, that leads you back to the same cycles. Practice the self-discipline to chose an elevated outcome than the ones that you’re used to. For a successful transformation you NEED self-discipline because transformations take dedication and time. You can build your self discipline muscle by starting small, making one small commitment, and sticking to it even when you would rather stay in bed. later, you can increase this commitment or add another and so on.
Level 2: Self-Responsibility
Often people confuse responsibility with obligations, which is a completely different thing. Now by self-responsibility, I’m referring to the responsibility you have to yourself to respond to your true nature. The responsibility you have to yourself to choose actions that bring you closer to the vibrations of gratitude, which is the highest and purest. responsibility refers to the responsibility you have to your self to not play small to please others, or make others more comfortable. It refers to the responsibility you have to yourself to not be afraid to speak up when you are feeling called to do so, and to stay true and advocate for your beliefs despite who your present company may be. Its the responsibility to intentionally align your action with your true nature.
Level 3: Self-Awareness
Becoming aware of your beliefs both empowering, and limiting, without judgment. Becoming aware of the thoughts and patterns that are no longer serving, and become aware of, and expand on, your point of view. Great power comes with self-awareness, so really put your intention behind this one. It is the power to become aware and take notice of your emotions as they roll through and pass, with out having to act on them. Just simply being aware of these emotions, acknowledging them, and letting them pass. the beauty of self awareness is that external forces and environments can no longer control your reactions when you become aware of your emotions. All the power stays with you. (P.S. I think this one is my fav!)
Level 4: Self-Remembrance
As your self-awareness expands so will your authenticity, and as this grows, so does your self-remembrance of your true self; your purpose, your soul’s purpose, where you will find your alignment, and your inner knowing, or wisdom. Some refer to this inner knowing/wisdom as their intuition, energy, etc. We all have it. Its the power of remembering they three pillars above when facing adversity. It’s remembering who you are and what your values are when facing peer pressure to do something that you just don’t feel right about. It’s about remembering why you started, and how far you’ve come when your feeling uncertain, or tired, or doubtful in your abilities.
