What is the difference between a failing business and a thriving one?
Here’s a hit… MINDSET.
You can’t be serious??!!
Oh, believe me, I realize the irony of placing mindset and business together in one basket.
When I used to think of mindset I would imagine a yogi sitting cross-legged in some robe-like clothing, incense smoke filling the room – always in a musk scent, dim lighting, and chanting.
And when I used to think of business, I would picture the hustle and bustle, long nights, lots of cigarettes, an obscene amount of coffee, suits & ties, and stress and swear words!
The two couldn’t have been further from each other. And I could not wrap my head around how the two could possibly live together as one.
And THAT my friends, is why my business attempts have failed.
Okay, truth bomb here, I will admit what most others won’t: I have tried several different businesses before in the past, and none of them worked out. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand why.
I had the right theory, I was trained in the right areas, I had some pretty decent business ideas, I worked on the businesses all day and ALL NIGHT; I just couldn’t figure out why it worked for others and not me. My only conclusion was that they had to just be lucky, and I just sucked!
Maybe I wasn’t cut out for business, maybe I should just stick to my depressing 9-5 office job and watch my whole life pass me by.
It wasn’t until a global pandemic spun my entire country on its head in February 2020, which caused my office to temporarily shut down, forced me out of my comfort zone, and taught us all a hard lesson in RESILIENCE.
THAT’S WHEN IT HIT ME
My businesses had failed because I didn’t have the right mindset. Not at all, not even close.
I didn’t have a clear purpose for my business.
I didn’t have a pure intention behind my business.
I didn’t have a “why”
I didn’t have the right attitude (it sucked!)
I had a tremendously toxic lack mentality.
And worst of all, I wasn’t in business to serve others, I was totally doing it to only serve myself.
Just by becoming aware of my mindset state, I noticed a shift start, and the more work I did on myself, the more focused I became, the clearer my visions and goals became, I was able to finally fine-tune my niche to one that really resonates with me, and best of all, business became easier overall and MUCH more profitable.
If you’re in the beginning stages of mindset work, spending your hard-earned coins can be scary, I totally get it. I started by soaking up as many free materials as I possibly could until I was ready to move on to the next level.
