How to Get out of your own Head: a lil chat about Motivation
A lot of people think that motivation only comes to the wealthy, the attractive, or the big game players in the world, those wanting to go out and change all of humanity; the people that have already found their passion in life and are crystal clear on what they want. And that is great for them, but motivation is not limited to these people alone.
I believe that true motivation comes from your real-life and experiences, it’s in the things we see and touch every day. The things that make you get up in the morning, the things & people that make you smile, and the visions we think about at night.
Often when I hear people talk about lacking motivation, I find that usually happens because they are thinking too big, as in, they feel like a motivating goal is something that has to be larger than life and save a million lives.
Now Read That Again!
This idea, although false, that you need to achieve a medical degree and save the world to motivate you, can create a defeating feeling, resulting in a lack of motivation.
From my personal experience, when you find yourself in this predicament, try shifting your focus to your day-to-day life. Dreams you have and steps you can take, right now, to achieve them.
So for example, instead of asking yourself these big questions like, “‘
What am I gonna do with my life?
What is my purpose?”
Try asking yourself something like,”
What can I do right now that makes me feel excited, right now”, or ‘“
What can I start that I’m interested in right now!”
Thousands of super successful people around the world are in fields that they never imagined themselves in, never planned for, and never went to school for.
They just picked up a hobby or interest, and let the rest flow organically. If your feeling stuck in this rut of depleting motivation, don’t be so hard on yourself.
Take a step back, and look for something that gets you pumped at the moment because motivation doesn’t have to change the world, it just has to get you excited right now!
I’d love to hear what motivates you, leave a comment below or send me a message with something that gets you pumped, or the struggles you’re having with motivation.
